Location: Bridgend

Hours: 40 per week (Monday – Friday)

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Duration: 2 months (with potential to extend to 12 months)

Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-respected homelessness organisation for a support worker on a temporary contract for an initial 2 months which could potentially extend to a 12 month contract.

You will be required to support the Community Manager in managing all activities associated with service users and their welfare and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

- Conduct intake interviews, complete risk and needs assessments and induct new individuals into the Community
- Conduct Support Plan meetings with service users and monitor progress
- Manage/facilitate in-house/external training and development for service users and support their training and skills development
- Develop strong relationships with partner agencies in relation to service user`s health, benefits and support, to benefit the Community, service users and potential service users. This includes assisting individuals in making and attending appointments.
- Create and react to opportunities to support service users in an engaging manner and encouraging them to support each other
- Deal with service users` problems and issues, using effective and empowering problem solving techniques
- Maintain appropriate systems for measuring and reporting necessary aspects of care, training, development and achievements within agreed formats and timescales
- To build a sense of Community, growing the Community in a stable and positive manner.
- Effectively assist the Community Manager to build good working relations with multiple relevant organisations.
- Ensure service users join the Community within admission guidelines, taking the lead role in offering or declining places in the Community.
- Ensure service users are welcomed, supported and inducted into all aspects of the Community and fully understand the implications of joining the Community.
- Ensures all service users have personal development plans in place.
- Participates in meetings to add value to management decisions, particularly on service user matters.
- Assist the Community Manager to ensure adequate cover so that the Community home operates safely at all times.

Essential Experience

- Working with and relating to a diverse range of people, some vulnerable and at all times maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Knowledge and understanding of homelessness issues
- Risk assessment and management
- Commitment to participate in an ‘On Call` service if need be
- Desirable Experience
- Working with people with challenging behaviour
- Previous experience in the care of vulnerable people
- Housing benefit
- Mental illness & addictions
- Familiarity with social enterprise
