Position: Lettings Assistant 
Location: Milton Park, Didcot 
Job Type: Part Time, two-year fixed term contract 
Hours: 18.5 hours – Wed pm, Thu and Fri 
Salary: £24,032 per annum (£9,612 - £11,247 pro-rata)

About the role: 

They are now recruiting for a Lettings Assistant who will play a key role in meeting these aims, and providing an efficient and effective housing service. The aim of the housing needs team is to ensure that people in housing need have access to the housing and support necessary to meet their requirements. 

Responsibilities: 

- Arrange emergency hotel placements for homeless households 
- Provide a tenancy management service for council-owned temporary accommodation 
- Be responsible for carrying out tenancy management in accordance with council policies, health and safety requirements, approved codes of practice and industry best practice 
- A responsibility to acquire and maintain knowledge of health and safety legislation and council policies in relation to temporary accommodation 
- Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure appropriate support packages are in place for their customers in temporary accommodation 
- Maintain accurate computer records for all housing applicants and offers of accommodation 
- Offer advice and assistance on matters relating to the councils housing register and choice based lettings scheme 
- Nominate successful applicants to Registered Providers in accordance with the councils` housing allocations policy and home choice agreement 
- Responsibility for liaising with the police over public safety issues concerning re-housing dangerous offenders and sex offenders 
- Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure appropriate support packages are in place for nominated applicants 
- Produce statistics and reports for temporary accommodation and choice based lettings 
- Assist in the implementation of new policies, procedures and legislation 
- Attend and participate in meetings and training events 
- Any other duties relevant to the position 

About you: 

- 5 GCSE`s at grades A – C, including English and Mathematics, or an equivalent level of qualification 
- Full driving licence and use of a car insured for business use 
- Experience of dealing with vulnerable, and in some cases distressed people 
- A good knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to letting, maintenance and managing accommodation 
- Experience of visiting clients in their home with face to face contact with customers 
- Ability to use IT systems, such as email, word and excel 
- Good oral and written communication skills 
- Understanding of and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice 
- Willingness to attend meetings and undertake visits out of office hours when necessary 
- The post holder must be mobile enough to undertake visits to customers in their homes, this will involve climbing stairs 

If you have the following experience or qualifications – it`s a bonus: 

- Knowledge of tenancy law and housing legislation 
- Knowledge of welfare rights 
- Experience of working in local government or social housing environment
