The Financial Management Group (FMG) is part of the Phoenix Group with responsibility for the development and implementation of investment strategies and ALM frameworks for the Group’s shareholder business - c.£15bn predominantly fixed income.

As an Investment Manager you will enjoy a broad-based role, using your abilities to provide support in researching, sourcing and modelling of investment and hedging strategies consistent with FMG’s objectives in the following areas:

- Asset/Asset Liability Management strategy, risk inventory and reporting Investment strategy/strategic asset allocation
- Direct sourcing of assets
- Providing M&A support in terms of valuation and investment strategy

You will also contribute by providing support to the Head of Investment Strategy and other FMG members in:

- The development and implementation of risk models, portfolio analytics and what-if tools
- Risk/ALM, IS/SAA analysis
- Solution development and analysis
promoting on-going awareness across the Group of market condition, asset classes and other matters influencing our investment strategy
- Execution work

What we are looking for: 

You will be from a related financial services or banking background with a good understanding of fixed income markets, both public and private assets. It would be useful if you have experience in structuring fixed income and/or determining credit rating. You should be able to demonstrate:

- Hands on experience of interfacing actively with market participants
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of forming and managing effective relationships
- Fluency with quantitative toolkits/systems: VBA, Matlab, Bloomberg, C++, other analytical and data tools
- Financial markets experience, particularly in an ALM/solution development context
- Familiarity with risk characteristics of a range of fixed income asset classes
- The ability to make an immediate impact – evidenced by a strong track record in taking initiative and delivering change
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and experience of working on a project basis
- The ability to provide challenge, respond to challenges and work with a wide range of people to deliver objectives
