Assistant Financial Accountant
Salary: £30,096 to £34,532 + Excellent Benefits
Hours: 36.5 hours per week

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is comprised of 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and our locally elected politicians, who know this region best. Individual councils will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

In a public sector environment underscored by disciplined working practices of a private sector organisation, you will be working within the dynamic and supportive finance team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Accountant, providing accounting support for a range of diverse areas from statutory returns to financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to consolidate and build upon the financial accounting knowledge you have gained within your financial qualification in the context of local government.

We are looking for a pro-active candidate with experience in financial reporting and month/year end close processes who is able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. You should possess good knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.

You should be educated to a degree-level or equivalent and part-qualified or newly qualified with ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW or ICAS. Experience of liaising with senior staff is highly recommended but not essential.
