We are working on behalf of an organisation based in Doncaster to recruit a Nurse Specialist to lead a team.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:-

Clinical
* Specifying clinical standards for nursing care which can be observed and measured.
* Monitoring clinical standards of nursing care.
* Ensuring all incidents are documented and reported correctly and that relevant documentation is forwarded to the Clinical Operations Manager for processing.
* Ensuring that all clinical documentation / procedures comply with all applicable legislative and statutory requirements.
Manager Meetings and any other clinical forums relevant to the post.
* Participating in the assessment process of patients, both internally and externally.
* Acting at all times within NMC guidelines, Health and Social Care Act and the Mental Health Act including Code of Practice; ensuring that all nursing staff on your ward also comply.
* Maintaining the ward environment to a high standard to ensure enhanced patient care.
* Ensuring every patient has an individualized package of care, which includes a robust activity programme.
* Resourcefully developing ward based activities and ensuring that all nursing staff actively encourage and promote patient involvement.
* Actively encourage and promote patient involvement through the provision of community meeting, planning meetings and surveys.
* Ensuring staff are receiving ongoing supervision which focusses on relational security and security of medium secure setting.

Clinical management
* Ensure staffing levels on the ward are maintained throughout the working date.
* Deliver their specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience to the rest of the clinical team.
* Be able to deal with complex clinical decisions in the absence of the MDT and act accordingly and demonstrate best practice to others.
* Be able to plan and adjust their clinical day accordingly to meet the clinical needs of the patient.
* Take a lead in managing incidents that require management of work related violence. Acting as a role model to others.
* Develop highly specialised programmes of care and ensure all others understand both there implementation and evaluation.
* Be able to interpret hospital policies and act in accordance with these and provide support for junior members of staff.
* Making staff aware of care plans, objectives and activity programmes.

To be successful you will need to have experience of operating in a working environment which places extreme physical and/or emotional demands and a seasoned practitioner with operational managerial experience gained within a specific clinical, educational, technical or professional environment who holds an approved post-graduate qualification.
