Our large oil and gas engineering client based in Stockport requires an experienced Procurement Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Rate £28,000.00 to £30,000.00 per annum + benefits
Hours Days, Monday to Friday.

Working within the Purchasing / Sales teams and carrying out related requirements in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives established by the business as directed by the Purchasing Manager/Team. You must continually evaluate and initiate the necessary changes in your departmental strategy to meet and exceed the needs of the business.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To source components which are extracted from engineering drawings and database information
- Working in the purchasing / Sales departments with a good understanding of material specifications and knowledge of common offshore grades and Norsok M650 requirements
- To operate in, facilitate, monitor and develop an efficient and effective Procurement function, with a 50/50 split between deciphering requirements from complex bills of materials and sourcing activities whilst working closely with the sales team.
- Allocating appropriate part numbers and raising PO's from requisitions whilst considering savings prior to ordering.
- Checking 3.1 Mill Certs.
- To ensure there is a continuous supply of materials and services to enable all delivery objectives to be achieved in the most cost-effective and timely manner.
- To maintain, develop and improve wherever possible, company procedures, standards of quality and workmanship to BS EN ISO 9001 & AS9100 at all times.
- To ensure all health and safety regulations are observed and maintained.
- To maintain and encourage high moral and initiative through positive attitude and effective communication.
- To help develop an efficient and effective purchasing department, specifically in areas of policy and procedure, whose goal is to purchase the company's requirements to the specified quality, delivery and within budget.
- To ensure that you abide by the company's code of conduct and are exemplary and professional in all business aspects with our suppliers.
- Continually strive to improve by review of the working procedures the efficiency of the business instigating change as required through correct channels within our QA system.
- Assist in the purchase of materials/services as required by production schedules to enable delivery requirements to be achieved.
- Create new items on the EFACS Stock control system in line with current procedures.
- Continually seek new suppliers to satisfy the increasing demand.
- Maintain EFACS supplier database.
- Continually appraise and develop the supply chain to improve and reduce the EFACS supplier database where possible.
- Expedite deliveries through the kit shortage sheets to meet production schedules, liaising with production Control and highlighting potential problems to delivery schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers and Production Control for engineering drawing/specification changes.
- Purchase sundry items as required in accordance with company policy and budgets.
- Purchase tooling as required in accordance with company policy and budgets.
- To identify and achieve lowers costs without impeding quality and maintain the 'Standard Cost' of materials on the appropriate database within EFACS.
- Validate supplier invoices as required working with the administration department to improve and speed flow of information and timely data.
- Monitor suppliers performance to ensure that the approved suppliers achieve the goals set during the management review and produce month report highlighting performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Engineering Background / Experience in purchasing raw material, engineered products and services.
- Ability to read engineering drawings is essential
- An understanding of material specifications specifically common offshore grades and Norsok M650 requirements
