An incredibly exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join a leading global organisation


Reporting to the Manager the role of the IT Support Engineer is to provide all IT services to the UK/Havant office for onsite employees (mainly engineers) and EMEA based remote employees. This includes desktop support, telephony, networking and support and administration of virtual servers and storage. Working closely with core IT to ensure standard technologies and processes are adhered to at all times. The role will involve setup and configuration of most of these services and then the on-going support.

Tasks & responsibilities

* Desktop support including setup/build of new laptops and desktops break/fix support of both
* Troubleshooting network connectivity in a LAN/WAN environment
* Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with services provided
* Telephony, set up, administration and break/fix support
* Networking including the setup, configuration and break/fix support of network switches both for office and lab environments
* Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP and other networking concepts
* Installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment (including but not limited to PC, terminals, printers and scanners) to ensure optimal workstation performance
* Virtual server provisioning, administration, patching
* Backups
* Firewalls, basic break/fix support/remote hands
* Work closely with the UK office manager to understand the needs of the business and translate these in IT deliverables
* Work closely with the core IT teams of GFO (Global Firewall operations) and GNO (Global Network Operations)
* Edhere to all standard processes for incident and problem management
* Ensure adhesion to IT change control process
* Work closely with Global Service Desk
* Manage the IT budget for the UK Office, reporting to the IT Manager
* Take ownership of customer issues reported and see problems through to resolution
* Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
* Setting up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in
* Repairing equipment and replacing parts
* Maintaining records of software licences
* Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies.


* Strong technical support experience
* Desktop support of Windows 7 and 10
* Understanding and experience of using of SCCM
* Cisco and HP network switch configuration setup and support
* Build and provisioning of Virtual servers - Windows
* Problem solving skills
* Organisational skills
* Prioritisation skills
* Project Management skills
* The ability to work well under pressure
* Enthusiasm for continual learning
* A proven track record of successful IT project implementation in a fast moving environment
* Experience of implementing IT infrastructure improvement projects
* Strong customer management and communication skills

* Experience of working in a multi-stakeholder environment across multiple geographies

Desirable Qualifications:

* Microsoft MCSE
* Cisco CCP
* ITIL foundation
* Ability to support Google mail/calendaring and drive
* Setup and support of mobile devices (Android and Apple iPhones)
* Industry certifications, this can include A+, N+ and/or MCSE/CCNA
