Hardware Engineer

The purpose of this role is to support the Engineering department to deliver on its current and future commitments. Our client has a busy and exciting product roadmap and this role presents an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is looking to make a difference.

The successful candidate will support existing products as well as assisting on new product development. There are longer-term opportunities to take on responsibility for areas of our clients product portfolio.

• Assisting hardware and system design authorities in the conduct of their work; undertaking fault investigations, testing equipment, generating test reports, raising change notes, liaising with supply chain management, etc.
• Supporting new product development; setting up equipment, conducting testing (inc. test houses and sea trials), and generating technical documentation.
• Maintaining the lab environment including the build state of the Integrated Bridge System (IBS).
• Helping to deliver functional/strategic goals for the year.
• To be aware of and comply with Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements.
• To carry out any other reasonable management request.


• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering / technical subject (e.g. electrical/electronic engineering or similar).
• Knowledge of radar principles and design
• Able to read and interpret engineering documents, drawings, schematics etc.
• Ability to work in a team delivering system/hardware engineering activity.
• Strong numeracy and problem solving skills.
• Strong IT skills, specifically with MS Office products.

• Electrical/Electronic knowledge.
• Experience conducting EMC/Vibration/Shock qualification testing with external test houses.
• Able to produce technical/project documentation to required format/standards.
• Systems definition, design, integration, acceptance and analysis experience.
• Knowledge of marine specific standards (e.g. IEC 60945, IEC61162-1/2/450/460)
