Linux/Devops Administrator x2 - Permanent - £28-32k - Start ASAP - Reading

My Client, a Private consultancy, have an immediate need for a junior Linux/Devops Administrator to join their team on a permanent basis. As the Junior Linux administrator you will be required to perform Hands-on operational management of provisioning & implementing Linux environment of Red Hat Linux servers hosted on VMWare.

One of the main selling points of this role is that you will be working alongside some extremely skilled and experienced developers and so the learning curve for this role will be huge. The potential for growth is excellent and you will be rewarded for developing skills within the role.

Summary

* Coordinate activities for major release and minor release deployment
* Work as part of a technical support team delivering a quality service to multiple clients using a variety of hardware and software products.
* Creation & Maintenance of documents including, but not limited to, those specifying servers provisioned within each environment, schemes and architecture diagrams.
* Raising service requests/changes for provisioning environments & virtual machines with hosting providers.
* Provide support in the following areas: OS performance tuning, capacity planning, maintenance patching and new version installation.
* Actively track and monitor and report on technical progress on incidents
Responsibilities
* Performing regular deployments using TeamCity with Puppet across multiple Linux environments.
* Debugging / troubleshooting environmental issues arising from deployments.
* Enhancing the quality of the code being used to deliver to the environments.
* Producing and maintaining good quality documentation.
* Resolve difficult/complex incidents affecting the operation/availability of the production systems
* Monitor vendors' release notes and plan necessary upgrades and patches as required
* Assess/install/maintain third-party tools.
* Apply best practice for production support.
* On-call support rotation.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

* Red Hat Linux administration skills RHEL 6/7
* Experience using Puppet and Git is required.
* Knowledge of Ansible and TeamCity is desirable
* Knowledge of Nagios monitoring would also be beneficial.
* Experience in Configuration of new VM's according to environment documentation including networking, AD & Puppet integration
* Linux server integration with Active Directory.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to plan and implement Linux changes
* Professional attitude - co-operative and mature approach to work
* Good fault finding skills in the Linux arena
* Ability to work within a team and in co-operation with other teams/third parties
