We are looking for an Ingredrients Quality Manager (Food) to work on a permanent basis in the Leyland area.

Salary is c£30-35,000 per annum

Our client is either looking for someone with experience of food ingredients specifications maintenane and management or someone with QA experience within the food supply chain (produce, ingredients, packaging, manufacture).

The successful Ingredients Quality Manager will work within the quality department to ensure that materials supplied to the manufacturing facility meet the approved specifications relating to food safety, quality and are le l complainant.


1. The development of policies, procedures and risk assessments in line with quality position.

2. Ensure that all new food ingredients, packaging and suppliers are approved and comply with procedures and specifications. Communicate non-conformances to the nutrition and purchasing departments.

3. To develop and maintain partnerships with ingredient suppliers through monitoring of standards, giving feedback and advice and, when required, overseeing an action plan to rectify non-conformances and improve standards.

4. Ensure that the raw materials and packaging quality database is maintained and updated to ensure that the raw materials, packaging and suppliers conform to agreed specifications, communicating any non-conformances to the nutrition and purchasing departments.

5. Check and approve food ingredient and packaging specifications ensuring that suppliers have current copies that are signed and readily available to .

6. Liaise with food ingredient and packaging suppliers, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality Departments to ensure that raw material and packaging is delivered to agreed specifications.

7. The effective communication of new and amended food ingredient and packaging specifications to Purchasing, Technical and Production Departments to ensure awareness.

8. Support the Head of Quality in the publishing of correct risk assessments, intake lists and non-conformance summaries on a monthly basis.

9. Review monthly non-conformance summaries to advise management of any trends for ingredient and packaging suppliers.

10. Ensure that procedures and systems protocols are followed and any anomalies are reported immediately.

11. To actively participate in projects and presentations to meet business objectives

12. Support the management team to obtain agreed KPI's.

13. To conduct internal / external audits as required (which will involve occasional overnight stays).

14. To work alongside the Quality, Operations and Purchasing Departments in responding to ingredient and packaging related queries from customers.

15. Communicate current legislation within the ingredient and packaging industry to the wider business with commincation of future changes to legislation.

16. To analyse and report Supplier Quality Performance Metrics/ KPI's agreed by management team.
