Salary: £40-55K depending on experience

Based: Ellesmere Port

Our Client is a leader in the supply of raw materials to the aerospace industry who have been established for over 30 years. Headquartered in the USA, they have recently been awarded a major new UK contract and have recently established a brand new, state of the art site in Ellesmere Port. The site is staffed and fully operational, and our Client is now seeking to recruit an experienced Production Manager to ensure the site continues to deliver on its key objectives.

Your role will be to direct and co-ordinate activities across the production and shop floor (21 staff across 3 shifts) with responsibilities including:-

• Ensuring that all standard policies and procedures are adhered to concerning all facets of operations, including receiving, packing, cutting, CNC operation, shipping, and Quality Assurance
• Promoting, supporting and instilling a spirit of total Quality Management, maintaining the highest Quality Standards in all areas of responsibility
• Ensuring Continuous Process Improvements
• Developing and implementing Safety Standards to provide a safe working environment for all employees
• Involvement in all employee meetings such as Safety, TQM, and SPC
• Responsibility for local management of employee compensation, risk prevention, and claims reporting and management. Reporting all claims to the Human Resources Department
• Working closely with Director of Operations and senior management to funnel correct and timely and correct information on all operational issues
• Taking all necessary steps to minimize costs and maximize profits
• Maintaining 99.5% inventory accuracy
• Maintaining Preventative Maintenance schedules on all equipment and machines
• Determining training needs and develop budgets for training
• Reviewing monthly Production Charts with all operational employees
• Recruiting, hiring and orientation of all new employees. Maintaining copies of employee personnel files, tracking absences, and benefits accruals. Providing new hire, payroll and benefits information to Human Resources department. Providing local administration of company Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Responsibility for performance appraisals for production employees
• Helping develop objectives, accountabilities, and output levels, ensuring a clear focus on results, with the ultimate goal of customer satisfaction in mind.

Suitable candidates should possess the following skills and experience:-

• Sound experience of managing staff in a production / engineering environment
• Mechanical / Manufacturing / Production Engineering qualifications would be an advantage
• A background / experience / understanding of CNC machining would be advantageous
• Experience working within aerospace environment would be ideal, however other experience will be considered
• Understanding / experience of Quality Assurance with good knowledge / understanding of the importance of traceability with regards to material usage and movement
• Ability to read, analyse and interpret professional journals, technical procedure and government regulations and ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers and the general public
• A good work ethic and a ‘can do’ attitude with a flexible approach to working hours
• Sound understanding of workplace Health & Safety
• Good knowledge of Lean, TPM and 5S methodologies with experience of continuous improvement
• Good level of skill in mathematics
• Good levels of computer literacy, ideally with knowledge of ERP systems.
