Heres a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within a well-established and respected financial services firm looking to appoint an experienced Operational Risk Manager in a new role for this business. Prime responsibility for supporting the evolution and development of operational risk vision and strategy by designing and executing the implementation of initiatives which enhance the operational risk maturity and the risk culture of the organisation. ACCOUNTABILITIES - Support the evolution, design, and continued development of the Operational Risk framework and associated strategy to ensure that each appropriate framework component is understood and embedded across all business functions - Partner with key business functions stakeholders / SMEs / Risk Champion providing advice, challenge and expertise on a range of complex risk issues. Initiatives include facilitating risk workshops; undertaking risk assessments within the context of risk appetite; leading operational risk training programmes across the business; and reviewing and challenging divisional and risk category risk management strategies - Support and promote the development of RCSA (Risk Control Self-Assessment) within the 1st Line (Business Functions) alongside the functions SME / Risk Champion and collaborate in regular coaching, training and development - Support and challenge the business by regularly assessing key processes and controls, providing robust and reliable opinions on their adequacy and effectiveness - Provide oversight and assessment of new products and other material changes to ensure that risks have been fully considered and agreed through the appropriate governance framework. - Oversight of information used to monitor Key Risks, working with owners for appropriateness of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite measures - Liaison with Risk Register stakeholders and owners to ensure that they are regularly updated and contain all material risks, key controls, issues and events and corrective action plans - Work with Audit to identify new Audit issues and link to relevant Dashboards and / or Risk Registers - Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance in the preparation, planning and management of the application for gaining FCA authorisation - Embed a positive culture of confident and informed risk-taking - Act in line with company Value REQUIREMENTS - Excellent and confident communicator with the ability to present using appropriate methods to suit differing audiences, both in terms of seniority and business area - Ability to demonstrate decisiveness and sound judgement on a consistent basis - Analytical / creativity skills to resolve complex problems and/or establish alternatives where established procedures may not exist - Exceptional learning agility with a keen desire to support the learning of others - Strong desire to produce work to the highest standards that is able to withstand robust challenge where appropriate - Influence stakeholders in the performance of risk management processes - Guide and facilitate the risk management life-cycle, as required, providing coaching, dependent on the maturity of the specific areas of responsibility - Challenge effectively (i.e. positively and with positive outcomes) the outputs of the Business functions risk management activity - Ability to deliver effective presentations and facilitate interactive meetings / workshops where required - Actively promote a risk intelligent culture TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE - Well-developed understanding of corporate governance and risk management principles within Financial Services - Knowledge of how regulatory, political, reputational and legal risk issues impact a complex financial services business - Skilled in risk and trend identification and mitigation techniques - Subject matters expertise across those divisions and risk categories across which oversight is provided - Detailed knowledge of operational risk elements of FCA rulebooks, Codes and other relevant legislation. QUALIFICATIONS Necessary - Educated to Degree Level - Extensive relevant Industry experience and/or other risk-related qualifications, for example CIRM, MBCI.
