Spray Shop Manager
Job Description Job title: Head of Finishing Reporting to: Production Director Job purpose: To finish high quality fitted and freestanding bespoke furniture. The Head of Finishing is a key member in the production team, being able to finish furniture components to a high standard using many different materials. You will be responsible for managing the finishing department including its equipment, materials, production and staff, and includes the Health and Safety of the department. The finisher is also to raise technical and aesthetic concerns to ensure that the client receives the highest quality product. There could be other finishers working under ‘Head of Finishing’ this could also include a junior and an apprentice. Main responsibilities: Task/subject Actions Results Meeting targets Agree project targets with the Production Director and liaise with Team Leaders to achieve them To meet company commitments to customers and other departments and sub-contractors Samples Provide requested samples that are labelled and presented in sample cases To clarify finishes with the client to ensure accuracy Fully understand your project Ensure that you fully understand the finishing requirements To accurately finish to the agreed finish Selection of materials Ensure that the material you or others have selected meets the functional requirements The product will perform well in service Surface finishing To apply a range of surface coatings to the highest standard To produce a completed product that satisfies the aesthetic and practical requirements of the design Preparation for delivery To ensure that all components are accurately labelled To assist ease of loading and installation Pack and despatch To protect finished products and load them for delivery To prevent damage and ensure all items are dispatched Maintenance To maintain the equipment to a high standard To ensure that the quality of finish is achievable and that production is consistent Task/subject Actions Results Recording To maintain an accurate record of completed finishes To allow the replication of completed finishes at a future date Development To propose improvements to facilities, equipment and processes To ensure that we are constantly improving Team work To work and communicate effectively with other teams and departments To achieve a successful outcome for the project and to contribute to on-going improvements in processes and systems Health & safety To comply with all current legislation and actively contribute to maintaining safe working practises and a safe environment To ensure that all staff and visitors are protected from harm Housekeeping To maintain individual and communal workspaces in a clean and tidy condition To ensure an efficient, pleasant and safe working environment Personal appearance To conform to the company’s dress code To present a professional appearance to colleagues and customers and suppliers Professional development To agree a plan for training with your assessor and Head of department To improve personal skills and company performance Business Plan To understand the company vision and actively work towards achieving our aims.
