Functional Developer A leading Investment Bank based in London are seeking a junior or graduate developer to join their Excel Tools team who are responsible for developing and supporting the Investment Banks Pricing Add Ins. They are in the process of migrating their legacy systems from C++ to C# as well as working closely with a range of other teams within the Risk and Analytics function, including on a new quant library and risk engine. Due to the demand on the team they are looking to bring in a junior developer, either straight from university of with some commercial experience who is really passionate about technology and interested in getting to learn functional languages, specifically F# and Haskell. Due to the junior nature of the role, they are not expecting any prior experience with either F# or Haskell and this represents a fantastic opportunity to get hands on with and learn some incredibly in demand technology. Role Purpose The team are responsible for developing a large portion of the excel add ins across the investment bank providing functions to support mathematical operations, table manipulation, pricing and risk of a range of asset classes. As a team they do not have BAs and so you will not only be responsible for the hands on development, but also for gathering business requirements directly from stakeholders and working across the full SDLC. They are in the process of developing a new platform that will allow them to continue to build tools to allow them to monitor and control the Excel environment while still allowing rapid access to newly developed analytics. The Role In this role you will: Interface with the business units associates in order to realise requirements and document specifications. Learn and get hands on with functional languages such as F# and Haskell Get the opportunity to use cutting edge technology and work on real business problems from day one Work across the full SDLC and have full product ownership for functions Work closely with other teams on a wide range of projects, including on helping to develop the new Quant library and risk engine Requirements Strong educational background with some experience with C# beneficial Eagerness to learn and develop, particularly functional languages (F# and Haskell) Excellent communication skills Confidence to be very business facing and ability to interface with business users on a daily basis Ability to collaborate with the wider team and to take responsibility for individual contributions Location & Package London BA4 level salary negotiable Excellent bens including working from home/emphasis on work life balance, good pension and bonus potential Sthree UK is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
