Business Development Manager

Our Client, has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join its existing external Field Sales team.

You will be focussing on seeking new business opportunities as well as managing and developing existing customers within a defined Southern territory, including London and the surrounding areas, so a substantial amount of travel and occasional overnight stays will be expected.

In the role of a Business Development Manager you will have the following duties and responsibilities:

* Planning and carrying out Sales calls on customers, prospects and influencers, ensuring the key decision-makers are identified at all visits.
* Following up promptly and professionally any leads generated by Marketing activity or the Internal Sales team. This may be through visits, telephone calls or emails.
* Working closely with the team, ensuring sales opportunities are maximised in specific product areas, markets and projects.
* Regularly providing the National Sales Manager with up to date progress as necessary.
* Attending meetings and/or events at both Head Office and other specified locations as required.

The Successful candidate should have the following skills, qualifications and knowledge:

* To be a credible sales professional with a proven track record - ideally within the construction industry.
* The ability to understand technical issues and retain technical knowledge and information - in house training will be given on our product ranges.
* To be a professional and confident communicator who is excellent at relationship building; able to present and communicate at all levels; motivated to achieve targets; well organised; and an ability to work on your own initiative.
* Practical and proficient IT (MS Office) skills as required.
