Origination Manager

Location: London EC4M 9BJ

Salary: £45,000/£60,000 + bonus, depending on experience

Working hours: Full time 09.00 – 17.30 hrs Mon – Thurs, 09.00 – 17.00 hrs Friday

Providing the grid with an operational reserve of power is one way of ensuring security of supply. Our client is committed to developing local generation sites that will help keep the lights on. Their Power Balancing services offers the grid network reserve electricity when it is needed most.

Due to expansion they are now recruiting for an Origination Manager.

Purpose of the Origination Manager Job:

To manage a small team in the development of gas to power and electrical storage sites. This involves identifying and securing development sites with viable land, gas & grid connections, and building relationships with commercial and private landowners. The right candidate will be expected to generate new leads and deliver new projects.

Primary duties & responsibilities of the Origination Manager role:

  • Developing new strategies for identifying development sites
  • Generating new leads by developing relationships and industry contacts
  • Preliminary landowner negotiations to secure sites (Heads of Terms and Exclusivity)
  • Handing over validated projects to Project Managers to take through the planning process
  • Gathering gas and grid network intelligence to secure viable connection contracts
  • Managing a small team carrying out mapping, network connections work and landowner enquiries
  • Depending on the candidate, the possibility of expanding the role to cover diligence work for site acquisitions
  • Identify new sectors (for example: viable battery storage sites or ‘behind the meter’ opportunities)

The ideal Origination Manager will have/be:

  • Experience in contacting and dealing with corporate landowners
  • Management skills – to get the best out of a small team
  • Commercial negotiation skills/experience
  • Some property legal experience - lease options, commercial property negotiation
  • Communication skills – excellent written and spoken as communication skills
  • Sales & Marketing skills – expected to use initiative and experience
  • Understanding of the planning process and technical site constraints
  • Independence – expected to work with a degree of autonomy and self-motivation
  • Well organised with good time management, IT and administration skills
  • Motivated
