Business Development Manager - Trade & Residential

My client is one of the leading suppliers of high-quality window, door and façade systems made from aluminium and steel. They are currently recruiting for a BDM to cover London and the South East

Job Purpose

To generate profitable sales from existing accounts and develop a network of new fabricators for residential doors, windows, folding sliding doors etc.

Key Tasks

• Maximise turnover and profit to agreed budgets, through boosting sales and building strong relationships with customers.
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing customers, through excellent customer service, keeping them informed of product developments and responding to their business needs and requirements efficiently and effectively.
• Complete and maintain a comprehensive business development plan for each key account.
• Focus on new business and the professional on boarding and servicing of new accounts.
• Account management, including ensuring terms and conditions are signed, invoices paid on time and queries promptly resolved by liaising with sales administration.
• Programme customer product, manufacturing, estimating and installation training, with L&D.
• Ensure customer manuals, price lists, CDs, marketing support etc. are up to date.
• Administrative duties, including submitting weekly and monthly reports, call reports, journey plans and expenses within time.
• Keep up to date with end user leads and fabricator enquiries and log and follow up all leads.
• Maintain and update customer records and project details, through Customer Project Services.
• Proactively maintain an up to date knowledge of products, market trends and competitors and attend training, exhibitions, meetings and seminars as required.
• Liaise with product managers by phone, email or training sessions.
• Efficiently manage time and plan work to ensure logical and cost-effective use of time / journeys

Essential Skills
• Strong business development / sales experience, within a relevant field (hinges, handles, fittings, window hardware and / or PVCu).
• Proven sales record with strong door opening and deal closing skills.
• Research and strategic analysis skills.
• Proactive problem solving with excellent listening skills.
• Strong relationship and network building skills.
• Continuous improvement - the ability to embrace new ideas and continually improve sales pitch.
• An understanding of aluminium systems, PVCu systems.
• Account management experience.
• Proven ability to meet goals and challenge competition.
• Excellent ability to manage time and plan work to ensure optimum effectiveness.
• Educated to at least A Level standard (or equivalent).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Strong presentation skills.
