Our client who is one of the leading suppliers of building materials in the UK are looking for an Experience Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Chipping Sodbury.

As the Experienced Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible, in conjunction with the Project Lead, for the financial management and performance of all allocated contracts (including measurement, valuation, payment, sub-contracts and reporting). The role will encompass all site contracts which are envisaged to be 3 main contracts totally circa 300m total value. The Senior QS has a responsibility to ensure that the projects are administered in line with the terms of the contract.

You will be working Monday - Friday 40 hour week and receive a salary of £62,000

Main Duties:
- Provide support to the Project Team in pre-contract and tender activities.
- Maintain compliance with the terms & conditions for contracts & sub-contracts awarded to Hanson
- Administer works in accordance with contracts, including (but not limited too) valuations, early warning notices, and compensation events
- Assist Project Lead as required, including providing professional advice on financial and contractual matters
- Negotiate with the clients representative to agree compensation events, including financial and time effects
- Establish financial management and control systems for contract execution.
- Ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business, including creating such processes as required and not currently in place
- Manage revenue, cost, cash collection and the reporting function during the life of all allocated contracts.
- Manage month end accounting and reporting of project in line with company requirements
- Produce profit and loss forecasts
- Update risk register to reflect contract changes, mitigation and occurrence
- Review and check payments made by the customer, including monitoring due dates for payment (dates include maintenance periods & staged payments)
- Manage administrators responsible for collating delivery information for submission to client, and for payment of suppliers
- Coordinate weekly, monthly, six weekly and 6 monthly tonnage forecasts to supplying depots with the assistance of the Logistics manager.
- Involvement in procurement and engagement of sub-contractors and suppliers, including defined responsibilities, terms and condition and contract documentation
- Monitoring and administering subcontracts, including agreeing valuations and claims
- Prepare and agree subcontractor payment certificates for allocated contracts.
- Produce financial and commercial reports and forecasts as required for the Project Lead and others as directed.
- Report on unsafe practices observed when visiting sites.
- Have knowledge of the statutory requirements governing the company's work (including health & safety) as applicable to their scope of work.

The role holder is expected to:
- Ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way so as to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place
- Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation
- Update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required
