Lead Buyer

Location: Norfolk
Salary: £45-55k (negotiable dependant on experience)

My client is a market leading supplier of engineering products and services to the automotive and motorsport industries. This role is based at the Centre of Excellence, which is their base for on-going design, development and implementation and has established strong relationships with key international motorsports organizations. My client is also a leading contract engineering and vehicle development resource to major automotive OEMs and a growing number of niche vehicle manufacturers.

My client is currently seeking a Lead Buyer/Purchaser - Automotive to manage day-to-day purchasing activities and utilize buying power to maintain quality at the most optimized cost.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
*Act as the lead commercial interface between the client, their suppliers & project partners
*Lead the client's supply chain's commercial responsibilities relating to defined projects
*Develop, implement and maintain robust sourcing processes and procedures including a sourcing group (committee) allowing both technical and commercial aspects to be reviewed
*Nomination of suppliers, taking into account the commercial constraints relating to the relevant project
*Lead on all commercial and contractual negotiations and maximize cost saving opportunities by applying the relevant tools and techniques to achieve "value for money," whilst maintaining supplier relationships to deliver the programme cost targets
*Ongoing commercial support of projects in terms of "scope change"
*Identify and evaluate supply chain risk whilst developing robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary
*Involved in purchasing of a variety of electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems for production
*Responsible for maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating, sourcing locally/globally, planning and forecasting inventory levels
*The successful candidate will be required to manage purchase orders, requisitions and work cross-functionally with engineering SQA and other business activities to identify cost-saving opportunities

In order to qualify for this opportunity, the candidate must have proven experience in the automotive OEM industry.
