Senior Track Support Engineer

A Senior Track-Support Engineer with experience of track support at a professional motorsport level is required for a permanent employment opportunity with a leading developer of award winning race engines for the motorsport industry.

The role is offering a salary up to approximately £70,000 per annum dependant on experience. There is also an opportunity for a Junior Track Support Engineer who has a degree of professional motorsports experience after University.

The Company

Our client has been designing, developing and manufacturing race winning engines since 1997. With in-house teams supporting every stage of motorsport engine development including full track side and after sales support, they are trusted by some of the worlds greatest motorsport teams competing in many prestigious events including the Le Mans 24 Hour, FIA World Endurance Championship and North American Racing Series.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Global Projects Manager, you will be responsible for track side engine operation of a key engine project
  • Extensive travel to international and/or European events will be required
  • As a customer-facing representative of the company you will be:
  • An excellent communicator
  • Highly motivated & very well organised
  • Between track events the role will include all aspects of project management onsite at the company’s Essex based facility, such as:
    • Reporting
    • Engine administration
    • Data analysis & calibration development
    • Preparation for future events
    • Involvement with in-house engine testing

Skills / Experience Required

  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role at a professional motorsports level, ideally F1, WEC, IndyCar, DTM or other relevant experience
  • Experienced in engine track-support
  • Proficient with engine management systems / calibration / sensors
  • Experience with professional engine management software, such as McLaren, Magneti Marelli, Cosworth/Pectel, Life Racing or Motec
  • Matlab, Ms Office; particularly Excel
  • Customer facing skills & excellent organisation skills
  • Flexibility to travel/work on weekends in line with race calendar requirements (approximately 12 weekends a year)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
