The Team

The EMEA Network Team Lead (Communications) is responsible for the support and strategic development of the clients data and voice infrastructure. The team is part of our third-line services at the client and as such, can come under considerable pressure to complete tasks to tight time scales. Ours is a 24 hour a day operation and candidates will need to be flexible and able to work out of hours as required and provide out of hours support as per on-call rota. As well as working across our UK-based locations, International travel may be required for project delivery.

The Role

The EMEA Network Team Lead (ICommunications) reports to the Data Centre & Network Operations Manager (EMEA).

The role will involve but is not limited to:

* Relationship management of all third party communications services, equipment and products. This encompasses a variety of Telco's and key vendor relationships in the space of Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, IP, traditional and mobile/cellular telephony, video conferencing and network security.
* Responsible for the provision and management of internet access technologies and operation of all internet security products and processes.
* Provide technical oversight and motivate the network team on a daily basis, providing detailed technical guidance and advice, training staff and developing them into high calibre communications technicians capable of producing exceptional network designs and support.
* Ensuring all tasks and issues are dealt with globally within demanding SLA targets to guarantee continuous communications capabilities, for voice, data and video.
* Establish, organise and maximise operational involvement in IT delivery projects, matrixing staff into the projects as appropriate and encouraging cooperative working to achieve shared delivery goals. Instil in all staff an appropriate service and security orientation and understanding of priorities and processes.
* To pro-actively look to improve operational network service and remove/mitigate against areas of risk to operational service on a worldwide basis as part of a virtual service improvement team.
* To ensure staff are service-focused are capable of diplomatically and technically handling out of hours service calls effectively.
* Work with the DC&N Manager to ensure that staff have appropriate development plans, have set objectives, and are regularly monitored and that they receive regular updates on Business and IT plans and do not become separated from the Firms culture by geographical separation.
* To provide a succession plan and adequate cover arrangements for personal absence to ensure that single point of network operational accountability is always achieved.
* Work with the DC&N Manager to manage the budget
* Lead tender processes for renewal prior to contract expiry, ensuring all foreseen changes are incorporated into the agreements or that these are flexible enough to accommodate change over the contractual life.
* Management of all procurement activity and review / approval of all technical solutions related to network services. Special emphasis must be applied to network security, the role of network intrusion prevention and the direct management of firewalls and external access points.
* Work closely with Server teams to ensure continuous provision of remote access services.

Skills and Experience Required

* Have experience as a Team Lead in a voice and data networks environment.
* Experience of WAN optimization technology
* Experience of firewall architecture and use of Checkpoint, Juniper, Cisco or similar firewalls.
* Experience of VPNs including site to site and remote access.
* Experience of centrally managed Video Conferencing systems - ideally with HD VC capabilities and desktop VC.
* Experience of LAN and WAN prioritisation of voice and video traffic and providing Quality of Service (QoS) for telephony and VC.
* Previous experience of managing third-party service providers across all technologies is essential.
* Technical experience of building and deploying voice and data networks both segregated and integrated.
* Experience of network design, application of network security, and build and deployment of video conferencing networks.
* Good connections with major Telco's and key equipment technology providers (Cisco, Riverbed, Blackberry / RIM).

* CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP are all preferred qualifications for this role
