JN Technical are recruiting a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record and 3 + years experience within the construction industry. The successful candidate will join a growing and successful construction team with the opportunity to work on large scale projects.

Job spec:

o Carry out contract reviews
o Conduct valuations and the pricing of variations
o In conjunction with the Contracts Manager prepare and monitor client accounts.
o Conduct measurements and surveying duties on site
o Carry out cost value reconciliation?s (profit and loss)
o Preparation of contract documents
o Development of knowledge relevant to contract conditions
o Check job costings against quoted figures.
o Chase instructions and ensure we have received written instruction from Project QS or Project Manager (authority signature)
o File manual site instructions and maintain electronic copies of all contract information on the system
o Chase agreement on prices.
o Meet with Client (QS) on weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis as project requires.
o Ensure applications are completed on time with Contracts Manager
o Agree final account with Contracts Manager
o Calculate accounts and actively negotiate final accounts and payments
o Liaison with other departments within the Company
o Liaise with other subcontractors employed by the Company
o Liaise and negotiate with the client and members of the professional team
o Understand the implications of the Health & Safety Regulations
o Attending meetings, both internally and externally, as required.

Competence:
o Good knowledge and understanding of construction & steelwork activity
o Excellent financial and numerical skills and sound commercial awareness
o Excellent IT skills
o Good communication and negotiating skills
o Understanding of building law and regulations, contract law and health and safety law
o Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC standard contracts
