South East LEP Business Engagement and Communications Manager
Type: Fixed term contract for up to 9 months to cover maternity leave
Hours: Part time, 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. (£24,000 - £27,000 p.a. pro rata)

The South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) is a business-led, public/private body established to drive economic growth across East Sussex, Essex, Kent, Medway, Southend and Thurrock.

An exciting and high profile role which provides capacity to extend the reach and depth of business engagement across the South East. Working across the range of economic development and growth activities undertaken by the SELEP, reporting to the Managing Director as part of a small team, the role supports the SELEP Strategic Board in securing a strong business mandate and providing clear internal and external communications using a variety of methods to local and national stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

The post holder will operate in a high profile role across Essex, Southend, Thurrock, Medway, Kent and East Sussex assisting the Managing Director, Chairman and Vice-Chairs in:

* Managing the SELEP Brand including on-going management of SELEP's newsletter and online and social media presence and ensuring consistent style in the production of collateral and key documents.
* Proactively acting as a key channel for communications and intelligence flows from the private sector on matters of importance back to and from the LEP, and feeding into the SELEP Federated Boards as appropriate.
* Establishing effective relationships with Board Members, their senior officers and communications specialists to ensure a shared coherent narrative about the LEP both locally and nationally with the media, specialist commentators and key opinion formers, key business leaders, pressure groups and community leaders.
* Offering communications support to the SELEP working groups - providing professional expertise and input across a range of written and social media, offering advice and guidance, preparing and distributing material as appropriate.
* Working flexibly across Essex, Kent & East Sussex often with out of office hours commitments such as attending business breakfasts or early evening meetings.
