My client is three parent companies uniting to form a single highway engineering provider with the expertise and resources to engage in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of motorways and roads. And all of that happens while making ground breaking industry innovations.

From setting up this company in 2003, they have worked on a number of major road networks. Currently, Highways England has awarded contracts for the two areas of the strategic road network listed below:

•Area 12 – Yorkshire and Humber
•Area 4 – Kent and Sussex

Collectively, those contracted areas are worth hundreds of millions of pounds to ensure that the motorways and trunk roads operate to the high standards set by Highways England.
As a Civil / Highway Engineer you will:
• Provide assistance and report to the Network Manager as required to ensure company and contract obligations are achieved.
• Provide advice to the client on network issues and be able to comment on highway improvement designs.
• Involvement in programming of works
• Participate in the compilation and issue of performance and progress reports.
• Prepare and manage inspection and maintenance programmes for various facets of highway maintenance. This will require liaison with specialist consultants, subcontractors and in-house inspection teams.
• Use and maintenance of RMMS asset management software.
• Participation in the briefing of Inductions, WPPs, Toolbox Talks, Safety Alerts and other HSEQ communication to site teams.
• Undertake supervision of site works to ensure compliance with company and legislative quality and safety standards.
• Participation in the on call rotas for winter service and emergency incident response.
• Management of abnormal load notifications.
• Development Control – assessment of planning applications which may have an impact on the highway
Who we're looking for
Qualifications/Other Requirements
• Qualified to HNC, HND or Degree level in a relevant discipline.
• CITB SMSTS desirable.
• Current valid CSCS card
• Driving licence essential
