Construction back ground

Experience of Construction trades and Industry

Knowledge of Design and build contracts

Knowledge of Collateral warranty process

The Procurement Manager will take responsibility for the purchasing function achieving their operational objectives for the group. With a strong, solid background in Main Contract and Sub-Contracting management, they will take a proactive approach in reviewing systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes.

The role is key to leading the Company forward in securing quality Consultants and Sub-Contractor components covering price, delivery and quality targets while balancing sustainability, risk management and ethical issues.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Market Awareness

Conducting research to ascertain the best suppliers in terms of Reliability , delivery schedules and quality;
Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities;
Attending meetings and trade conferences;
Keeping up to date with British Standards and codes and sharing knowledge across the company.

Developing an organisation's Procurement strategy;
Producing reports and statistics to support business cases for recommendations;
Produce KPI to demonstrate performance;
Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Estimating, Commercial and Site team; and
Assist in maintaining a company quality control program.
Supply chain management

Liaising between suppliers, Sub contractors and relevant internal departments;
Ensuring Sub-Contractors are aware of business objectives;
Identifying potential Sub contractors, visiting existing Sub contractors, and building, and maintaining, good relationships with them;
Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided;
Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future; and
Evaluating quotes and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.

Monitoring commitments (company and jobs level) against budget and program;
Maintain register of supplier insurance and warranties.
Understand the needs of the sites and balancing "Just in Time" with risk of disruption, to maximise corporate cashflow;
Ensure all requisitions are processed within the internal control parameters set by the business.
Provide Sub contractors with early feedback on the status of requisitions.
Respond to queries from site, estimating, finance and commercial.
Team Management.

Managing a team, including taking any necessary disciplinary action;
Understand the roles of all team members;
training and supervising the work of other members of staff;
Ensure members are briefed on their roles and responsibilities;
Ensure competencies of own team are demonstrable;
Monitor the numbers and capability of the team to ensure it is able to support the needs of the business; and
Ensuring the department is resourced to cover holiday and illness.
Systems and Sub contractors

Ensure all Sub contractors are registered on the system;
Ensure all orders are consistently processed using the system.
Ensure system details are accurately maintained to enable the business to rely on the information for decision making.
Assist with the development of the system to maximise automation and focus the team on value-added activities
