The Role

My client are a rapidly expanding manufacturer of window and conservatory systems, possessing over 40 years industry experience. They are now looking to appoint an Estimator to be based at their Head Office in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. You will be reporting to the Group Commercial Sales Manager, working with their innovative window and door system which focuses on a thermal performance for the Residential sector.

As Estimator you will be responsible for completing estimates for commercial tender; you will control and prepare the tender documents and be able to read Building specifications and drawings and work through BIM (Building Information Modelling). All tender enquiries (both internal and external) will be owned by the Estimator and it will be their responsibility to control these through to completion.


* To receive, acknowledge and check tender documentation and raise queries as necessary.
* Ensure sub contract quotations have been collated and checked for compliance prior to use.
* The ability to price schedules of works from Building Plans, Scale off drawings and work to window schedules.
* Reading specifications and interpreting them into the product.
* To ensure all tender documentation has been collated in sufficient time for the submission date.
* To oversee P&L relating to Commercial Projects and develop margin projections
* Developing and managing estimates on multiple, simultaneous projects
* Look to develop good working relationships with architects, clients, colleagues
* To liaise with other members of the bid team as appropriate to ensure that all aspects of the tender are understood and responded to.
* To assist in sub-contractor and supplier selection and ensure competitiveness.
* Prepare commercial documents for tender handover to projects team.
* Work closely with Management and sales team in the development to ensure accurate estimates and assumptions meet project requirement.
* Ability to identify potential concerns/issues on projects.
* Liaise with clients regarding submitted tenders and resolve any technical, programme and / or commercial issues as required.
* Ensure that Director and sales team are kept up to date with information regarding ongoing tenders
* Liaise with clients to ensure that any changes to details are communicated and passed and manage the customers' expectations.


* Experience in estimating and tendering commercial projects.
* Strong commercial awareness and commitment to achieving deadlines.
* Experience of the fenestration, door and curtain walling industries.
* Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software, particularly LogiKal.
* An eye for detail and a practical/technical awareness that enables you to solve problems.
