Our client is looking to recruit a Principal/Manager Building Surveyor to be based in Wigan.

Role purpose:
You will be responsible for the management of a team of professional staff engaged in the improvement and maintenance of buildings.

1) Undertake and manage programmes, projects, and resources.
2) Ensure planned maintenance and improvement programmes are completed on time.
3) Prepare and check specifications, orders, accounts, estimates and procedures for technical correctness and compliance with policy and procedure notes.
4) Liaise with senior colleagues in establishing maintenance/property needs/work programmes.
5) Ensure all targets are met and all documentation is produced in relation to processes and procedures.
6) Provide effective management and robust performance management and act as a professional lead.
7) Allocate funds and monitor expenditure to various levels of staff and ability on various programmes of work
8) Deliver appropriate consultation and support services both internally and externally
9) Carry out specialist building surveying work as required to clients
10) Manage and prepare proposals for annual budgets
11) Take responsibility for the day to day issues arising out of the service contracts, and develop and sell services to external clients.
12) Redistribute allocated funds according to needs, carry out a monitoring role on premises to ensure the distribution of funds equates to need
13) Responsible for identifying new business opportunities
14) Fee earning at 90%, and contribute to the achievement of business plan objectives and targets
15) This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required
16) Carry out duties appropriate to the grade of the post
17) Inspire a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of demonstrable high quality products and services which embrace quality standards
18) Demonstrate personal commitment to the Norse Way CSR strategy

1) Professional membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent and be working or prepared to work towards chartered status - Essential
2) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a Building Surveying related discipline - Essential
3) Holds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attain - Essential
Skills and knowledge:
1) Extensive experience in a similar related role - Essential
2) Management experience - Essential
3) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite - Essential
4) Familiar with current construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos - Essential
