SEN Teaching Assistants - ASD students - Mainstream All - through School (working in Primary) - Permanent role starting ASAP - Newham, East London - £16,899 to £19045 based on experience

About the School - SEN Teaching Assistant
Located in vibrant Newham close to the Olympic Park this vibrant, modern Academy School educates children from the ages of 4 through to 19. The school has intake of pupils from low socioeconomic backgrounds with many students being entitled to free school meals, high number of EAL learners and a higher than average intake of SEN pupils either with Dyslexia or Autism. Due to these factors the school receives large amounts of funding to ensure that these children can go on to achieve at every stage of their education. The school has a totally inclusive teaching philosophy and includes all SEN students in mainstream lessons as much as possible. They have dedicated professionals including a leading SENCO in primary and secondary, a mass of SEN TA's and LSA's plus the support of a large specialist SEN School. The school has invested heavily in resources for all pupils to ensure that all have the best opportunity to succeed and offers ongoing training and development for all staff to ensure they are best equipped to support all learners.

About the Role - SEN Teaching Assistant
Working with one Autistic pupil on an individual basis you will be responsible for following through the Individual Education Plan (I.E.P) set up by the schools SENCO. This will involve you breaking down subject material in such a way that the pupil can understand the concepts and make sustained progress. In order to achieve this the successful candidate will need to be able to formulate a strong relationship with your student based on trust. Working with SEN pupils can be extremely rewarding but the role does not suit everyone and only those who can remain calm and focused will be suitable for this position. The school is looking for an experienced SEN TA/LSA but will offer further training and development plus the potential to go on to a teacher training course where QTS could be gained.
