Our client, a successful local engineering firm are currently searching for a maintenance engineer who has a mechanical bias background but still has some electrical knowledge.

Job Purpose

To maintain, service and repair plant, equipment and tooling within the facility. Ensuring that equipment is maintained to a high standard in order to meet company Health & Safety and performance requirements.

Main Duties

• To undertake mechanical repair and servicing to a range of CNC machine tools, conventional machine tools, moulding machines, special purpose machines, jigs and fixtures as part of planned maintenance activities and break down response.
• Resolve technical plant and facility problems to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations
• To undertake planned maintenance checks of equipment and plant in line with manufacturers recommendations
• To undertake routine facility checks including but not limited to fire alarm system checks, fire doors and escape routes
• To move new and relay out existing plant and equipment within the facility using lifting equipment. Whilst also installing and modifying mechanical services not limited to but including air services
• To liaise with outside contractors on all aspect of repair and facility maintenance as required

Person Specification

• Time served apprenticeship within a manufacturing factory environment
• Excellent fault finding skills for the diagnostic and repair of CNC lathes and machining centres as well as a range of conventional machine tools including Wickman multi-spindle machines, lathes, mills grinders and injection moulding machines.
• Have a good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• To be able to use conventional machining equipment including lathes and mills for the manufacture of replacement parts.
• Able to plan and schedule own work load
• Complete tasks to a high standard on the basis of priority.
• A minimum of five years’ experience within a manufacturing factory environment.
• Able to work well within a team or individually.
• Good use of imitative
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Able to work at height
