Job Title - Multi-skilled Installation Engineer - Basingstoke ( new position )
Reporting to: Managing Director, Oakley EMS
JOB SUMMARY
An apprentice trained multi-skilled engineer to work on customer sites as required providing project installation and maintenance services. -This could range from the installation of roller conveyor systems in warehouse or factory environments to fabrication work on sites where new layouts and alterations are required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Liaising with the MD on the project plans and reporting progress of projects
- Conduct risk assessment prior to project/ maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards
- Preventative maintenance on machines and equipment as required by Oakley’s customers
-Responding to emergency machine break downs at Oakley’s customers
- Involvement with new design, installation and movements of customer’s equipment or machines
- Overhaul and repair of customers’ machines and equipment
- Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose
- Electrical Installation work as required on any specific project. Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits
- Advise on Engineering requirements and drawings
- Work with and coordinate with other contractors
- Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications
- Fault Finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and- Effective Communication
– keeping Management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required.
- MIG/TIG welding in support of projects undertaken by Oakley
- Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the business requirements .
SKILLS
• Apprentice trained
• Able to read electrical drawings
• Ability to logically fault find
• Understanding of pneumatics
• Read mechanical drawings
• Ideally, worked with conveyors and chain, sprocket, belt driven machinery
• Experience of fan applications
• Worked with high speed rotating machinery
• Fabrication experience

PERSONAL QUALITIES/COMPETENCIES
• Self-motivated and adaptable
• Demonstrate sound decision-making skill.
• Good Communication skills and be able to establish and maintain effective contact with staff and key partners, suppliers, contractors.
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE – ideally
• Time Served Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship
• Experience of operating Lathes, Mills, Grinders
• Work with and Install single phase/three phase electrical circuits
• Knowledge and Experience of machinery such as mills, lathes, grinding machines
• MIG/TIG welding ;
• hydraulic test rigs;
• paint spraying equipment and general engineering machinery
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• The post must be able to drive
• Must be prepared to work occasional weekends – 1 weekend in 4 as a guide
