Vacancy Overview

This role will support the Senior Category Manager in providing hands on, day-to-day procurement support to the business unit, a specialist vehicle conversion company based in the West Midlands.

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for providing an excellent operational procurement service to the Business Unit, project or customer. The role will support the day to day operational needs of the business unit, through procuring the right goods and services at the right price in the right time frame, in line with the divisional standards and best practise.

The Procurement Specialist will work alongside the Divisional Category teams and operational procurement colleagues, representing the needs of their BU, project or customer, to deliver tangible value to their business and to ensure that operational needs are satisfied.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the business unit in the delivery of an excellent procurement service; ensuring all goods and services are procured for the right price, in the right time-frame and in line with production requirements.
• Assist in the development of procurement activity that maximise value for the business, based on understanding the business needs and the supply market potential.
• Providing cost estimating in support of bid development work.
• Provide cover, when necessary, for colleagues in the operational team.
• Provide support, as directed by the Senior Category Manager, on all Procurement and Supply chain activities and deliverables.

Candidate Overview

• Experience of working in a manufacturing procurement function, with good knowledge and understanding of importance of providing an excellent supply chain service in a production focused environment;
• Experience of managing the performance of suppliers, including using metrics to review performance and conduct operational reviews;
• Track record of effective order and supply chain management; demonstrating and understanding of the importance of maintaining uninterrupted supply of goods and services to a production line.
• Proven track record of identifying and delivering year-on-year Procurement savings against targets, across a portfolio of Procurement initiatives;
• Experience of managing sourcing projects from conception through to completion;
• Evidence of building and developing collaborative relationships internally and externally;
• Experience of providing operational Procurement support in a relevant, comparable environment.
