Elevation Recruitment Group are currently an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper for a successful engineering business in Sheffield.

Reporting to the Financial Controller the main duties are as follows:

- Full book-keeping process up to trial balance to include sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliation and quarterly VAT Return

- Processing subcontract ledger payments ensuring CIS deducted as necessary

- Collating timesheets to be inputted and costed to the finance system

- Maintaining subcontract ledger to setup and review new subcontractors

- Ensuring HMRC requirements for registration under CIS scheme are met

- Processing of all subcontract ledger invoices including matching invoices received to subcontract purchase order, chasing up GRN confirmation and posting onto subcontract ledger

- Monthly reconciliation of subcontractor statements

- Monthly payroll processing for the organisation

- Preparation, reconciliation and submission of CIS Return to HMRC

- Processing expense claims including the coding and posting onto the system

- Weekly debtor review and reporting to individual divisions and chasing debts as required

Candidate requirements:

- Accounting and bookkeeping knowledge and experience in a finance department

- Strong interpersonal and communications skills

- The ability to work to monthly deadlines

- Self discipline and the ability to resolve problems

- The ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail

- The ability to manage confidential matters in a professional manner

- Good team working skills

- An aptitude for IT - knowledge of software packages particularly Excel will be an advantage
