Job description
Our client organises the payroll for approximately 500 contractors on a weekly/monthly basis. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for the weekly and monthly pay runs. The Payroll Manager will directly supervise the Payroll Officer and will be critical in ensuring that all payments are precise and all information that is given to clients is prompt and accurate. The role will use Merit Payroll software on a daily basis.

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for training the Payroll Officer to the level where they can deputise in the absence of the Payroll Manager. Ultimately, accuracy will be the most important output and the criteria by which a candidate will be successful will be that people are paid the right amount, at the right time, with an accurate payslip.

Proven experience of Merit Payroll software
CIPP Qualification
Be able to multitask
Have an excellent phone manner
Be able to deal with often upset clients on the phone
Be a flexible and helpful member of the team
Proven experience of Microsoft Office Applications at Intermediate or Advanced level
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with customer service focus
Able to work under pressure to deadlines and multi-task
Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
Very high standards of accuracy and attention to detail with strong numerical ability and data entry skills.
Full understanding of the employee confidentiality and data protection with the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
