A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered General Nurse to join their fantastic team on a permanent basis in Henley on Thames .

Job role

* To ensure residents are cared for to their satisfaction by leading, motivating and developing the team effectively. Utilising your nursing expertise, to ensure the safe and smooth running of the unit.
* To take full responsibility for maintaining professional standards of care and nursing for residents within the home.
* To support the Care Home Manager in the day to day operation of the service, deputing as directed in their absence.
* To manage lower grade nursing staff and nominated care staff.
* To ensure that care delivered is compliant with current CQC requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

* To manage the care planning process, including risk assessments, in a way that meets the individual's needs and Health & Safety requirements.
* To assess the needs of residents, in order to organise and manage the shift. Ensuring that the appropriate nursing care is delivered.
* To be aware of the general condition and well-being of each resident and to make appropriate referrals to other professionals/agencies.
* To ensure plans produced are delivered on time, with quality. To develop effective working relationships with residents and their families.
* To gain a thorough knowledge of each individual and their circumstances and use this in care planning.
* To build good working relationships with other external professionals, e.g. GPs and District nurses in order to meet residents care goals.
* To ensure that up to date nursing practices are carried out for the benefits of the residents.
* To share good nursing practices where appropriate with care staff, including attending update training and then putting this into practice.
* To recruit, support, supervise and manage the performance of staff in accordance with C&C policies and guidelines.
* To provide honest development feedback, in order to improve staff performance and to use this and other information to produce development action plans and to follow up on progress.
* To conduct regular communication with staff on a one to one and team basis on key issues. Ensuring adequate staff coverage at all times.
* To contribute to Rota planning when requested to do so.
* To maintain effective working relationships and lines of communication with other staff and ensure that the quality of care and safety in the home is not compromised.

Qualifications

* To be able to demonstrate post qualification learning and development
* To demonstrate a willingness for further training and development
* To demonstrate adherence to the required regularity updating of nursing qualifications

Experience

* Must provide direct personal and social care
* Must have RGN Band 5 qualification with NMC Pin (up to date)
* Previous experience of using care planning software
* Experience of communicating with professionals and other agencies
* Have experience of team working
* Have experience of providing personal care
* Managing a team of care staff
* Demonstrable experience of training, coaching and developing staff
* Must be RGN (with experience of working with this client group)
* Must have good clinical and care planning skills
* Must have good written and verbal skills
* Must be able to work effectively as an individual and within a team
* Must be confident
* Must be flexible to meet individual's needs

Skills

* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care of the elderly
* Competent in Outlook and MS Word
* Be able to train coach and develop staff
* Good interpersonal skills
* Up to date medication and manual handling
* Be able to demonstrate post qualification learning
* Commitment to working to enable and empower older people
