Use your outstanding marketing, fundraising and leadership skills to make a real difference!

As part of the global ActionAid family, we are helping to build a fair and just world where everyone can claim their rights. To achieve this we work with local people in more than 45 countries to fight hunger and disease, seek justice and education for women, hold companies and governments to account and help communities cope with emergencies.

In the UK our role is to raise funds to reduce poverty in the communities and countries where we work, to take action for long term change and to act in solidarity with people fighting poverty and injustice in poor countries.

We are seeking an Interim Head of Supporter Marketing to lead a team of fundraisers and marketers to make a substantial input into the Individual Giving function as well as to Fundraising more broadly.

ActionAid is going through a period of substantial change – and so this role is to cover some of the backfill for postholders covering other roles. As such the functions you will lead come from different areas in fundraising – that do not currently sit in one team.

The role:

This is a strategic position which will play a key leadership role within ActionAid, as a senior fundraiser with significant responsibility for delivering on the organisation’s financial and supporter objectives. You will provide high quality line management to your direct reports within legacy, digital, events and community fundraising, taking a lead to ensure all teams and suppliers are compliant with sector regulation and are pushing for best practice in cherishing our supporters at all times.

The role is also responsible for leading managers to ensure maximum accuracy and precision of the team budget; including planning, reporting and ongoing re-forecasting as well as working in close conjunction with the Head of Digital Communications to lead on the strategic development of the 2018 digital fundraising programme.

The role will also be responsible for driving cross-organisational activities to support public fundraising appeals, and so you will have excellent leadership, negotiating and influencing skills, as well as being highly knowledgable about the drivers behind income generation.

You!

Confident and calm under pressure, the ideal candidate will have proven experience of inspiring and motivating teams to exceed targets as well as experience in delivering growth strategies to more than one area of fundraising. You will be highly practiced in relationship fundraising, with exposure to making high-level asks to senior stakeholders.

A proven track record in delivering high performing marketing campaigns across a range of digital channels, including social media is also a requirement. You will display a strong creative instinct, both in leading the development of campaigns and in critiquing work.

Experience of developing seven figure budgets and monitoring, reporting and reforecasting against these as well as proven experience of senior level project management are also key. You will have superb interpersonal skills with the ability to immediately build strong relationships, based on mutual respect and trust
