An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Catering Manager/Head Chef to further their career as a Regional Support Manager. Reporting directly to the Operations Director for Colleges in Taylor Shaw, this person will support sales bids, mobilisations and develop current college on site services, both front and back of house.

Ideally the successful candidate will be Southern UK based, to cover Colleges South of Coventry/Nottingham, but mainly in and around Greater London. This role requires travel to where the business needs are. Occasional travelling will be required with overnight stays.

Summary of Roles
The Regional Support Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies across the area of responsibility to deliver sustained growth of turnover and net operating profits; Retaining and developing existing business by ensuring food quality is appropriate for the client`s needs; Generate and deliver innovative ideas; Supporting and up skilling site teams. The role will include sales presentations, mobilisation, site audits, site training, food development, relief cover and function support (some of which may occur outside normal working hours/days). This is a 52-week position, and holidays must be taken in regular school holiday times and at Christmas shutdown.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

- To fully understand the terms and conditions agreed with the Client under which Taylor Shaw operates and deliver those terms and conditions by visiting contracts regularly, as identified by the Operations Director.
- To assist at sales presentations, producing the food, marketing and presenting
- To assist in appointing, managing, motivating and develop Unit Managers, and other key unit based staff. 
- Craft training and support to enhance food production, presentation and service on site
- To mentor site chefs in their development
- To constantly monitor the market place to be ahead with new innovations and ideas and bring these to the Operations Director for consideration
- Be aware of the challenges Unit Managers may experience and assist them in arriving at acceptable and innovative solutions.
- Assist with review meetings with Unit Managers to monitor business activity and financial performance, and anticipate future business requirements and demands on area resources.  Plan to meet these demands
- To assist site managers with the training, understanding and implementation of Company online systems including menu planning, recipe and costings, daily, weekly and monthly ensure all food, health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed by sites, including allergen procedures
- To carry out investigation and disciplinary meetings as required

- Monitor financial information, to ensure area performance/working capital targets are achieved.
- During site visits the Regional Support Manager to participate in the Customer Journey and review the services and taste the food.  Action plans to be produced and reviewed with the Operations Manager/ Director at operational review meetings.

- Be aware of current employment legislation of proposed changes, and ensure that no practices are permitted which may contravene the same or lead to disrepute for the company.
- Prepare reports for the Regional Manager and Operations Managers on various matters, as directed.
- Attend and contribute towards Operations Team Meeting, and all other regular and ad-hoc management meetings.
- Ensure all unit training is recorded and signed for on the individual staffs Training Record Card.
- Maintain unit files, ensuring all meetings and other points of communication are accurately recorded, distributed and circulated, as appropriate.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years` experience in a Contract Catering environment as Head Chef or Catering Manager. Ideally in an education or B&I establishment, preferably Colleges
- Proven, excellent craft skills
- City and Guilds 7061/2 or equivalent
- Innovation and flair to develop food presentation
- Great IT skills and a basic competency in Maths and English
- Great communication skills at every level
- Ability to self-motivate and motivate others
- Clean driving licence
- Flexible to meet the growing geographical spread of the College region

Salary & Benefits
£30,000 gross salary per annum, plus use of a Company vehicle

40 hours per week, normally Monday – Friday
