Site Manager - Permanent – Central London - £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Are you a Site Manager looking for an exciting and new opportunity?

My client, a well-respected specialist contractor is looking for a Site Manager to join their busy expanding team based in Central London. Working on Construction, Refurbishment and Fit-Out projects across London and within the M25 up-to £2M in value. Projects could involve working on Commercial, Healthcare, Education, High Specs, New Builds or Retail works.

Previous or current experience working for similar contractors (as above) on projects valued from £500K to £1M in value is essential.

This is a permanent role for either someone looking to expand their career and take the next step up or someone with 10 – 15 years’ experience looking to join an excellent company with great opportunities to progress.

Starting salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum and an excellent package (detailed below).

Site Manager Responsibilities / Duties:

* To assist in the audit of safety and ensure the company's compliance with all current legislation and to promote safe on-site practice.
* To work with the Construction Director, Construction Manager, Assistant Site Managers, Design Co-ordinator, Resident Liaison Officer, Site Staff, and Surveyor to engender a team approach to the challenge of each project.
* To assist the Construction Director in the preparation of a construction phase safety plan.
* To prepare and complete method statements and risk assessments for all sections of the works, and to ensure that sub-contractor risk assessments are satisfactorily complete before they start works
* To positively liaise with and take advice from the Group Safety Consultant in improving on-site safety.
* To assist Surveyor in investigating the design and specification for the project, to seek improvements in buildability and to identify areas of cost reduction.
* To assist in the monitoring of progress against the Master Construction Programme in compliance with the timescale demanded by the building contract.
* To prepare on a regular basis a progress report and pre-plan of the future project activities and agree same with the Construction Director.
* To manage the liaison with and communication with all sub-contractors and suppliers engaged on the project, on an ongoing basis, setting out clearly in writing all critical programme criteria.
* To chair meetings to agree in good time all facets of each sub-contractor (and where required supplier), and to record criteria in terms of attendance off-loading, plant, etc. and for same to be confirmed in writing both to the attendees and head office.
* To regularly review sub-contractors progress and identify appropriate action to ensure that they are fully complying with predetermined programme targets.
* To maintain good on-site discipline and fully implement the company procedures in respect of site presentation in all its facets.
* To manage waste and re-use of materials and contribute positively to achieving the lowest net cost of on-site production.
* To identify and take advantage of all opportunities to promote the activities of the company and to participate in the challenge of seeking new business opportunities.
* To promote the Equal Opportunities Policy of the company.

Site Manager Skills / Requirements:

* To maintain good relationships with Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Clients, Sub-contractors and other professional members of the team outside the company and within our own company. To maintain good relationships with adjoining property owners/stakeholders.
* To maintain the reputation of the company for good quality of finish, positive action and achieving set objectives.
* To ensure safe working practice at all times and compliance with all current legislation.
* To ensure the most effective use of the resources at our disposal, including labour, plant, sub- contractors and materials.
* To assist in progressing the works and ensuring compliance with the timescale demanded by the building contract.
* To ensure that weekly documents are completed and delivered to the Commercial team as needed
* To ensure that site file documents are completed and maintained as an up to date record of site events.
* NVQ 4 qualified or above
* Holds valid CSCS Card
* Holds valid SMSTS qualification
* Holds valid First Aid qualification
