Our client is an award-winning consultancy that have sustained and grown a reputation in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. It has been built on the dedication, skills and excellence of their talented engineers and now they are looking to strengthen their 70-strong team with an Associate Director / Principal Geotechnical Engineer.

See yourself working on wide range of award-winning projects from major infrastructure to temporary works, basement impact assessments and ground movement assessments for public and private sector clients nationwide from their central London office. The office itself is a recently-refurbished Grade II listed building has great rail and tube links for those travelling from both in and outside London.

Your Role 

In a decision-making role working closely with the Regional Director of the London office, you will have ample opportunity to lead your own projects, develop your own client base, as well as to work on flagship projects.

Temporary works is increasingly being recognised as one of the most critical parts of any construction project. With an increased workload we are looking for someone to strengthen our client's team and ideally provide the unique balance between geotechnical and temporary works design.

With strong business development skills, you will develop existing client relations, but also identify and secure new clients and build lasting relationships.  Your aim will be to also motivate, develop and manage the performance of others and facilitate the professional and personal development of the geotechnical team.

Alongside this, you will also be provided with the unqiue opportunity to give back by becoming a STEM ambassador and volunteer a few hours of your time a year to encourage and inspire young people to achieve more and progress further in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Successful candidates should have:

- Extensive experience in two or more of the following: London ground conditions, SI, temporary works, construction sequence engineering or piling.
- A strong academic background with a relevant degree, MSc or equivalent
- Chartered status with the Institute of Civil Engineers looking to progress to fellow
- Proven experience of acting as a Principal/Associate Geotechnical engineer in a fast-moving main contractor/ consultancy environment
- Strong geotechnical design skills and ability to assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead geotechnical design, delivering schemes to a high technical standard on time and within budget
- Proven commercial awareness for an SME environment
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with and develop long term relationships with clients at the highest level to ensure the commercial and technical success of projects.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
- A flair for innovation
- Project management - Experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management
- Proficiency in Plaxis 3D,WALLAP, GWALL, SLOPE, FLAC(2D) , PDISP would be ideal
- A full UK driving licence
