Protocol are working with an established FE college in London to recruit an experienced leader to be the operational manager of the Learning Support Department.

The Support & Improvement Manager will be responsible for the operational management of the Learning Support Department ensuring high quality additional learning support and inclusive learning leading to wide participation, high retention and achievement, dynamic high quality teaching and effective curriculum and resource management. To monitor and view the current processes and procedures of the area and make recommendations on improvements to Executive.
Responsibilities will include management of the referral process, management of staff and resources, management of the pre-entry admissions process for students with dyslexia/disabilities; management of access arrangements; managing all processes relating to high needs students on mainstream courses, including the Annual Review process, funding arrangements, overseeing the completion of all associated documentation (for example EHC plans), and liaison with Local Authorities.

MAIN DUTIES

1. To promote the highest possible standards in customer care, equal opportunities and health and safety practices for the benefit of learners and the wider community served by the College.

2. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults served by the College.

3. To lead, manage and develop the staff attached to Learning Support in accordance with College policies and procedures.

4. To be responsible for the development, planning and implementation of all aspects of additional learning support in collaboration with appropriate managers.

5. To participate in strategic and operational planning and quality assurance processes.

6. To ensure a high quality, efficient and cost effective service to the learner and internal customer, through the development of human and physical resources and management of the budget.

7. To support the College's Prevent Strategy to protect learners from possible radicalisation by promoting fundamental British values and enabling them to challenge extremism.
