One of our leading clients is looking to recruit a Senior Authorising Engineer to work across their commercial maintenance contracts and to provide advice on detailed engineering matters.
The Lead Authorising Engineer will be responsible for the operation of safe systems of work (SSoW), assessing, appointing and auditing authorised persons to operate them.
This would cover HV. LV, Confined Spaces, Water Systems, Working at Height, Mechanical and Ventilation systems.
As the Senior Authorised Person you will provide dedicated technical expertise and mentoring to the existing site based Authorised Persons, in relevant disciplines. Providing essential safe system planning and development support to sites and AP resource.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the performance of the Authorising Engineers as they deliver contracted works to clients
Oversee the Commercial and Financial Elements of the team's service delivery.
Plan and conduct AE audits in accordance with the relevant organisation's regulations and guidelines.
Effectively develop, improve and assure the implement the client's Safe Systems of Work management system.
Recommend the appointment of Authorised Persons (AP's)
Support the APs in the proper discharge of their duties.
Initiating recommendations and actions to prevent or mitigate the occurrence of operating or system failures on-site.
Investigating nonconformities, accidents, complaints, incidents and near misses.
Raise any safety issues with the Client notified to him by employees.
Liaise with customer's specialist personnel; contractors and authorities.
Assisting in the content development and delivery of AP training courses and similar Safe Systems training; providing professional and technical advice when required.
Involvement with technical accreditation's such as F Gas, Safe Gas, NICEIC

Essential Education, Qualifications and Training:

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Current AP Certificate in either HV/LV Electrical or Mechanical Systems Sound understanding of JSP375 and appointed / responsible person processes.
Engineering / Technical qualification: Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (in relevant discipline).
Competent Microsoft Office Suite User
Ability to solve problems and make decisions
Full clean driving licence
IOSH / NEBOSH Qualification
