On behalf of our customers we are responsible within Services Execution for the maintenance and safe delivery of trains into service on a daily basis from our Fleet Maintenance Depots. Integral to the success of our Business in defining the correct strategy, and working with all parts of the Supporting Functions to ensure the smooth running of our Fleet Maintenance Depots. We are also working closely with our customers to reduce costs to maximise the train life cycle through remote based monitoring.

Following the recent securing of a contract we are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic skilled nightshift service assistants (m/f), based at our depot in Crofton, Wakefield

This role is key in the day to day service delivery requirements of the customer trains, ensuring a safe, clean and reliable product is achieved whilst meeting Train Service Agreement (TSA) targets and objectives contracted to our customers on availability and performance.

The Service assistant role requires the person to be:

Responsible for carrying out routine servicing, light repairs and mechanical inspections on the DEMU/DMU Class 22x and class 180 fleets

Responsible for the reception on to depot and delivery of trains into service following routine maintenance examinations and overhaul component changes while ensuring that all activities undertaken meet the requirements of Quality, Waste reduction, Delivery and Health& Safety.

Working with the rest of the team to drive/deliver continuous improvement to processes

and working practises through the implementation of Depot methodologies and techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To undertake train reception duties in line with the examination regime.

* The movement of trains under the instruction of the designated person in line with business requirements defined by the team leader

* Control on train movements on depot including reception, and dispatch into service from the network.

* To take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of self and others under their charge.

* To support the team leader on adhering to the timeframe for delivery of the task process or work stream.

Job Profile - Safety Critical / Safety Related:

General engine servicing duties, including changing oil, fuel filters and hydro static oil to laid down Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI's).

Operation on Under Frame Cleaning Plant to ensure that trains are cleaned to a standard to enable maintenance staff to carry out their duties

Daily servicing requirements which would include the operation of re-fueling equipment, And Controlled Emission Toilet (C.E.T) equipment.

Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all paperwork prior to Team leader validation.

Responsible, to the team leader and the Planning lead, for the accurate identification of outstanding work during and at the end of the shift.

Supporting the team leader in the achievement of all activities in line with Quality, Waste Reduction, Delivery and Health & Safety targets.

Undertake maintenance tasks in line with safety critical standards within the role and competency structure to the required vehicle maintenance instructions.

Ensuring that all problems with processes, tooling and documentation are identified within the team and reported to the team leader.

Highlighting potential Health and Safety concerns Constantly searching for ways to improve processes.

Operation of powered plant, lifting and mechanical handling equipment.

Identify potential improvements and feedback to Customers management and Engineering. Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe

accident free environment.

Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standards at all times.

YOU'RE QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and experience

knowledge of Mechanical Principles

Detailed understanding of DMU/DEMU vehicles.(training provided )

A degree of manual dexterity to allow repair in line with the role competency level.

Competencies

Computer Literate. Use of email communication, excel etc.

Personal Track Safety Certificate (PTS training to be provided )

Designated person duties (control of train movements inline with depot procedures) Competent to undertake safety critical work

Education level

Able to demonstrate am ability to undertake simple cosmetic repairs and support the team in more complex exchanges.

Shall wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, as defined by the business role being undertaken.

Shall co-operate with Management for the reduction of risk

Shall notify their superior of any unsafe plant, equipment, building structure or practice. Shall report any accidents or incidents to their superior.

Shall not compromise the security and/or operation of IT systems.
