Hays Education are looking for a school finance assistant to start ASAP on an on-going temporary basis.

Located in BS6, right of the downs, this leading independent school is a very welcoming and attractive school to work in. The school occupies an attractive 15 acre campus in the north-west of Bristol and admits girls from age 3 -18. There are approximately 330 girls in the senior school which can accommodate up to 200 boarders. In the Junior School there are 130 girls, the majority of whom are day pupils.The Accounts Department is responsible for the provision of all operational accounting services in the School. It is responsible for fee invoicing (about 450 active fee accounts) on a termly basis, other invoicing on a monthly or occasional basis and for cash collection and credit control. The School operates a purchase ledger with several hundred active suppliers and an in-house payroll for 200 staff. All related functions including pension administration, petty cash, VAT accounting and nominal ledger accounting are carried out within the Department.

Your new role
The Accounts Assistant is a member of the Accounts Department with principal responsibility for the operation of the purchase ledger and with a range of other regular and occasional responsibilities as described; Operation of the School's purchase ledger, Recording of credit card expenditure, Provision of support for operation of fees ledger, Operation of School's petty cash accounting, Calculation of accruals and prepayments for year end accounts and notifying budget holders of resulting adjustments to annual expenditure records, Checking of all utilities and services invoicing and the provision of consumption data to the Estates Manager for use in energy saving initiatives, Provide summary expenditure reports for budget-holders, Provide advice and support for staff on financial processes and systems, Assist the Director of Finance with one-off projects and reports as required, Prepare one-off analyses or cost reviews as required.
