Job Title: Accounts Analyst - Upstream

Department: Exploration and Production - Finance

Reporting to: E&P Financial Controller

Key Responsibilities

Month-end duties including

  • Preparing bank reconciliations and intercompany confirmations
  • Calculation, preparation & input of journal entries for E&P companies
  • preparation of monthly Withholding tax returns for filing with local tax authorities
  • preparation of monthly cost recovery statements and supporting documentation
  • Assist with preparation of Statutory Accounts for E&P group companies
  • Assist with preparation of local tax returns and local books for all overseas registered branches
  • Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for above
  • Provide SUN system support, run financial reports as part of the month end and exception reports to ensure system controls are being adhered to
  • Review and document internal controls to ensure compliance with policies and standards
  • Support annual group year-end audit and ad hoc Joint Venture, cost recovery and tax audits
  • Collating timesheet data and preparing summary reports
  • Processing invoices
  • Ad hoc analysis as required


  • Graduate with 1 or 2 years business experience (E&P company or similar business environment preferred)
  • Good A-Level results (ideally including maths) and a good degree (at least a 2:1)
  • An interest in or already studying either CIMA or ACCA
  • Highly numerate individual which will be tested at interview stage
  • Advanced IT skills with a demonstrable aptitude for systems and excel
