My Chelmsford based client is looking for a keen and enthusiastic Payroll/ Accounts Assistant to join their team.

• Process joiners and leavers
• Process pension increases
• Calculate the payrolls and reconcile to the previous month
• Print and save payroll reports
• Generate BACS file
• Payslip production and distribution
• Produce P45s
• Submitting RTI files
• Processing payments to HMRC
• Dealing with queries from HMRC
• Daily input and/or authorisation of electronic bank payments
• Write cheques and arrange signature as requested
• Pay in cheques received to the bank
• Daily input of bank transactions onto the accounts system
• Check accounts system input
• Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
• Preparation of historic cashflows as requested

This role would suit an experienced Payroll/ Accounts Assistant looking to predominantly focus on payroll. Ideally you will have an active interest in payroll and be open to studying CIPP.

Key Skills and Experience
Essential

• Previous payroll experience
• Previous general accounts experience
• Good telephone manner and sound communication and verbal skills
• Literate in word and excel
• Ability to plan and organise work
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and cope with high volumes of work
• Essential to work as part of a team

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Essential

• Educated to GCSE grade C and above and/or Higher Education
Desirable
• Prepared to work towards a payroll qualification
