Health and Safety Advisor

What is the purpose of this role?

We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to work on a permanent basis for the UK's largest water and sewerage company.

We are currently seeking a health, safety, security & wellbeing advisor to provide professional advice to management and employees in operations. You will be instrumental in delivering our strategy and ensure compliance with our management system, standards, processes and procedures.

Being part of the waste treatment above ground team, covering the catchment area of South London (between Dartford and Chertsey) you will be engaging with the front line teams, implementing behavioural safety framework, reporting & reviewing change and assessing process safety.

What will this role involve?

Develop, implement, deliver and monitor performance against the safety, health, security and wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes and procedures.

Advise stakeholders which will include operational staff and contractors on HSSW matters including compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practice by liaising with enforcing authorities and professional groups.

Developing and implementing local and business-wide initiatives designed to improve occupational HSSW performance and bring about cultural change.

Lead and undertaking audits / inspections and incident investigations, identify non-compliance, root cause analysis, risks and agree action list/ plan with the site management and report statistical information as required.

Assist in the review and agreement process of safe systems of work and risk assessments where there is a significant risk to safety.

Raise awareness in the business through identifying training needs, planning and delivery of training in line with the annual training plan.

What skills are we looking for?

Are you an accredited H&S professional? Have you got exposure to an engineering or heavy industry environment?

We are looking for someone who has in depth knowledge of all of the four major key elements to this role- health, safety, security and wellbeing. You will have thorough understanding of legislation with a background of delivering successful programmes and compliance with catastrophic risk management.

You will hold NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent) and be within a CMIOSH; as well as having an understanding of tier 2 COMAH. Experience in the following would be advantageous supply chain management; sub-contractor management; exposure to incident behaviour programmes.

You must also have a proven experience of delivering training within your current position, ideally within a construction environment.

Due to the nature of this role, a full UK driving licence is required.

Information & Salary

This is role has a flexible base location in and around Dartford to Chertsey. We are offering a salary of up to £50k, depending on qualifications & experience.
