You will be responsible for providing sludge technical leadership to sites across all regions, taking ownership of process performance, particularly around power generation, energy consumption, chemical usage and dewatering.

What makes this role unique?

You will be joining us at an exciting time of change and will directly contribute to our transformation programme goals and Operational Excellence objectives.

This high profile role will provide you with exposure to a variety of multi-million pound projects and a chance to directly contribute to their success. Your day-to-day input will directly contribute to our strategic goal of energy neutrality within WWT.

What will this role involve?

You will provide technical leadership on the sludge stream processes of a number of sites, supporting the development and delivery of site-specific Power Generation targets, and minimising the cost of treatment whilst keeping the site compliant.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing performance data across 32 sites using an in-house 'cockpit'. This forms the basis of decision making and performance analysis and as such it is vital that this is up-to-date and accurate. Your role will involve training operational teams in the use of the cockpit, updating them annually to reflect new budgets and work towards moving the cockpits into a Cloud-based solution.

Your input will be significant into investigating future sludge stream opportunities, and you will assist in the design and delivery of these projects. Your technical support, advice and guidance will be provided to and acted upon by Operation and Project teams, as well as Procurement and other Commercial departments.

You will be responsible for training and coaching Operations to best practice on sludge process and the use of the cockpit, and you may be asked to technically represent the company externally within your area of expertise. You will also continue strong relationships with our service providers and provide strategic support where required.

What skills are we looking for?

Do you have extensive industry experience, with a proficient understanding in sludge processes? Are you experienced in data manipulation and analytics?

The ability to pull relevant data from reports and translate this into actions for site is essential to the success of this role; extensive use of Excel and other internal systems is needed. Your wastewater experience will go hand in hand with your IT / systems knowledge in order to improve the way we work.

You will have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline, and a membership of appropriate professional body. Alternatively, you will have the equivalent experience.

Working across the business it is essential that you are confident in communicating professionally both verbally and in writing; have strong influencing skills and be able to build positive relationships quickly.

Due to the nature of this role, a full UK driving licence is essential.
