We want to create some of the most cutting edge Outdoor learning experiences for young people. Students in Keystages 1 through to 4 who are finding they need additional support to overcome the challenges of mainstream school, work with us for periods of time to develop resilience, grit, determination and a range of practiced strategies that can help them manage their behaviours.

One post will deliver the outdoor learning aspect of our Primary intervention program, planning and delivering small group sessions in the outdoors offering curriculum based learning with a focus on working together, problem solving and building self confidence. In addition one day a week this post holder will work with KS3 students to support the delivery of adventure learning which includes a 14 week English and Maths curriculum.

The second post will be based with our other school working from one of their centres delivering adventure learning to groups of young people also in need of additional support to engage with learning which they have not found possible in mainstream schools. This post holder will be liaising with referring schools and Local Authorities, working with the Adventure Learning team to design and deliver inspirational Adventure Learning sessions, and helping to shape the overall provision which is a new service.

Both posts will benefit from wide range of professional development in developing Adventure learning skills and the opportunity to work on developing programs to re-engage disaffected young people as well as from our School in the analysis, triggers and potential strategies to support a wide range of diagnosed and undiagnosed behaviour conditions and learning needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE POST
To teach disaffected and/or vulnerable students
Identify and address the educational, social and emotional needs of the students.
To ensure lessons are well planned with clear aims and objectives.
To ensure lessons are in line with the scheme of work.
To take into account differing abilities of students and deliver well differentiated lessons.
To encourage students to be actively involved in the learning process and in reviewing
their own performance
To clearly communicate the purpose and framework of the learning.
To ensure students are known by name and the learning atmosphere is positive.
To encourage intellectual curiosity
To deal with inappropriate behaviour quickly and effectively.
To check that subject matter is effectively communicated and understood.
To ensure regular appropriate feedback is given to learners.
To keep careful records of students’ progress, in line with school policies
To provide information as required by the Headteacher/Adventure learning manager
To take responsibility for a high standard of display work through electronic systems
To attend scheduled meetings including meetings with parents and outside agencies
