We are currently working alongside a leading global Engineering organisation, as they search for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their expanding team in Central London. Their Buildings Group is involved with an unusually diverse range of projects that include Rail, Aviation, Infrastructure, Education, Defence, Hi-Tech, Industrial and Research, both within the UK and overseas. The group works closely with a range of in-house services to bring a unique blend of technical excellence and truly single source capability to clients.

Their exciting Central London team are growing and searching for a Senior Structural Engineer who is motivated by working on some of the most exciting projects in the industry and is keen to pass on their knowledge to more Junior Engineers. The Structures team in London are currently involved in work at all major London Airports, as well as a variety of high profile stations for Network Rail, Crossrail and London Underground. As a Senior Structural Engineer in the integrated design team, the successful candidate for this position will be able to undertake design and specification of the range of building structural engineering services in either a lead or supporting role depending on project complexity and scale.

The engineer should demonstrate a flexible approach to design and teamworking and will be involved with projects both local to the base office and other teams across the UK. Designing structural solutions within the integrated design team will involve the use of technical engineering software and proactive involvement with BIM models for projects. The engineer will be able to proactively collaborate with other members of the team and, working within defined project time and cost constraints, deliver innovative and sustainable best value solutions that exceed client requirements. The engineer will exercise technical and commercial judgement in delivering design work and ensure that the customer's QA and Value Enhancing Practices are met throughout the design and construction phases.

We anticipate that the successful applicant for this opportunity will be comfortable performing the following tasks and activities:
*contribute to design projects across offices and internationally where required.
*design and specification for small / medium projects using a range of structural engineering software including Fastrak Building Designer, Orion, TEDDS and S-Frame.
*liaising with clients, architects and other design team members.
*preparation of reports, drawings and specifications.
*developing and maintaining excellent client relationships.
*representation of the discipline and company at internal and external meetings.
*project management of suitable projects.
*manage other engineers and designers and helping to mentor graduate engineers.
*monitoring and reporting progress against time and financial objectives

We anticipate that the successful applicant for this exciting new opportunity will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
*demonstrable experience of delivering projects from concept through completion.
*experience in the design and specification of building structures in steel, concrete, masonry and timber to British Standards and Eurocodes.
*experience in leading the structural design of small / medium sized projects.
*proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients, architects and other design team members and the Ability to represent Jacobs at external meetings and at presentations.
*ability to undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
*familiar with UK Building Regulations and design standards for discipline.
*degree qualified in appropriate subject (or commensurate commercial experience).
