We are currently seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join a highly reputable multi-disciplinary engineering practice on a permanent basis in Brighton. Our client has a wealth of knowledge and experience working on a variety of national and international projects, from educational and health projects, to transport and water developments.

The successful candidate will undertake a range of responsibilities including:

* Undertaking staff performance reviews and technical development
* Preparing and managing the project structural technical plans and associated project governance
* Providing continued support through leadership
* Providing, planning and programming of technical delivery through resource and cost management
* Identification and management of potential risks
* Developing the structural teams' technical ability through staff engagement, problem solving and knowledge sharing
* Writing and reviewing technical reports and presenting the content, findings and solutions to clients
* Developing and presenting technical papers for internal and external publication

Essential skills, experience and attributes:

* BEng & MSc or MEng in structural engineering
* Chartered status with the Institute of Structural Engineers
* Experience of building and building fabric structural design across a range of sectors
* Previous experience using Eurocodes and with British Standards, in reference to historic structures
* Experience with managing teams on multi-million pound building projects
* Detailed knowledge of industry standards
* Ability to clearly present and communicate technical content to a non-technical audience
* Understanding and experience using relevant BIM tools and CAD software
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
* Good technical capability and detailed knowledge of industry standards
