As one of the West Midlands Police talented Analysts, you'll support the Lead by ensuring the force benefits from accurate and insightful people reporting and analysis. By undertaking research and bench-marking, you'll aid effective workforce planning decisions.

The West Midlands Police are looking for people with extensive experience of working with large, complex datasets, reporting tools, statistical modelling and analytical techniques. Proactive and adaptable, you'll easily work to deadlines. And you'll bring an unrivalled eye for detail and passion for data, as well as inspiring confidence in those around you. And, ideally, you'll have membership of the CIPD, along with relevant qualifications.

What You'll Need;

* Experience of working with large, complex datasets
* Experience of using Excel to an advanced level
* Extensive experience of working with reporting tools e.g Business Objects, Discoverer, OBTI, Crystal reports
* Experience of working to tight timescales
* Experience of presenting data analysis (desirable)
* Good working knowledge and understanding of workforce planning theory and application, legislation and policy
* SQL language skills (desirable)
* Visual basic language skills (desirable)
* Understanding of Oracle HCM application (desirable)
* Experience of statistical modelling (desirable)

Responsibilities;

* To provide value adding focused people data and analysis to support Business Partners and senior stakeholders strategic thinking
* To provide standard people data reports to the wider business and other stakeholders
* To work with Shared Services to ensure that all People Data is accurate
* Undertake internal and external research and bench-marking to inform data analysis for both workforce planning and Business Partners.
* Work with Business Partners to ensure reporting analysis meets individual portfolio requirements
* Develop people reports and dashboards in conjunction with IT & Digital and Shared Services
* Provide people data and analysis to support change programme requirements.
* Support the Lead Analyst in creating presentations and reports for key strategic meetings
* Provide advice and analysis to Business Partners on all people related metrics based on both internal and external data.
* To maintain knowledge of operational structures and roles, HR best practice, legal changes and other external influencing factors on workforce planning.
* Develop/engage with professional networks within Policing, with relevant partners and external bodies, to enable bench-marking and development of best practice in data and reporting.
* Work with other functions to develop a richer picture of analysis by including other data sets from the wider business including financial, asset and operational data.
* Provide specialist people analysis packs to business partners and other key stakeholders and ensure that analysis is understood in terms of opportunities and threats
* Work with change programmes to provide people related information and gather information to include with portfolio analysis packs.
* Contribute to the creation of system of governance, to deliver a clear and integrated approach to workforce planning and reporting across People Services and the Force
* Ensure that data analysis packs are maintained and up to date for Business Partners.
* Continually assess the quality of people data held on force systems and work with Shared Services to ensure data remains accurate.
* Ensure workforce plans continue to reflect the force position
* Monitor all people related reporting to ensure it remains accurate, accessible and applicable
* Maintain the forces' authorised establishment position
* To produce all people related data for all statutory returns including the Home Office and HMIC
* To produce all people related Freedom of Information requests
